Partials & Dentures

Have you lost a few teeth? We can create a partial or complete denture to replace those missing teeth and complete your smile. We fabricate replacement teeth and attach them to gum-colored plastic bases, which are then connected to gums with a metal framework or with glue.

Partial Dentures & Bridges

Partial dentures can be used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. A removable partial denture or a bridge usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base which is held in place by a metal framework. Partial dentures not only fill in the spaces left by missing teeth, they also prevent other teeth from shifting position.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, vs. partial dentures used when some natural teeth remain. We strive for quality and perfection, and complete dentures are a multi-phase process. The first impression is taken of your mouth/arch shape, and fabricated into a mold. This is then tried-in to check for correct bite and dimensions; once it is to your satisfaction, the doctor then helps you select the size, shape, and shade for the final product. This is sent for a temporary model, which is tried in for your approval and sent off for final fabrication.

The complete denture is ready for final placement 8 to 12 weeks, overall, after the teeth have been removed.

Immediate Dentures

Unlike conventional dentures, immediate (or “temporary”) dentures are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As a result, the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums shrink over time - especially during the healing period - following teeth removal. Immediate dentures usually require more adjustments during the healing process, for a proper fit. Generally, they are used as a temporary solution while the final dentures are being made.

Are There Alternatives to Removable Dentures?

Yes, dental implants can be used to support permanently cemented bridges or dentures. While these are generally more costly, they more closely resemble the feel of real teeth. Dental implants are becoming the alternative to removable dentures. Not everyone, however, is a candidate for implants. Contact us to schedule a consultation with Dr. Skladany!
